Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Satyajit Naik, IPS, Central Range, has received the prestigious DGP’s Disc Award for 2024-25, recognising his exemplary service and leadership in Odisha Police.

The Odisha Police State Headquarters announced the honour, placing Dr Naik among 119 personnel recognised for outstanding contributions to law and order across the state. A 2008-batch IPS officer, Dr Naik assumed charge as IGP on January 1, 2026, after a successful tenure as DIG of the Eastern Range, Balasore. His career reflects a philosophy of “People-Centric Policing” and a strategic approach to complex security challenges.

The award highlights Dr Naik’s pivotal role in managing critical operations, including his leadership during Cyclone Dana. His proactive presence and coordination ensured the safety of thousands and the rapid restoration of order. His tenure in the Eastern and Central Ranges also demonstrated a strong commitment to communal harmony, achieved through intensive community engagement in sensitive regions.

Dr Naik’s operational acumen extended to environmental policing, where he led investigations into Similipal Tiger Reserve poaching cases and secured arrests of key suspects. Beyond his tactical duties, he is recognised as an ISB Scholar and elite marathoner, promoting fitness and intellectual rigour within the force.

Presented on Police Formation Day, the award affirms Dr Naik’s unblemished service record and dedication to the motto “Service with Integrity.” Accepting the honour, Dr Naik credited his team’s collective effort and reaffirmed his commitment to transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly policing for the people of Odisha.
