The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its decisions on pitch rating appeals filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Canada (CC) for matches held in June.
The ICC Appeals Panel has rescinded the demerit point imposed on Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, which had been rated “Unsatisfactory” after the third ODI between Pakistan and Australia on June 4. The panel concluded that while the Match Referee followed guidelines, the pitch “did not demonstrate excessive unevenness or spin.”
At Toronto’s Maple Leaf Cricket Ground, the panel withdrew the demerit point for the June 8 match between USA and the Netherlands, ruling the pitch was consistent with a satisfactory surface. However, the three demerit points for the “Unfit” rating given to the pitch used on June 16 for Canada vs Netherlands remain, as the panel found the conditions “dangerous and consistent with an Unfit pitch.”
As a result, Gaddafi Stadium now has no demerit points, while the Maple Leaf Cricket Ground retains three points on its record.
