A Lufthansa flight bound for Hyderabad was forced to return to Frankfurt Airport on Sunday evening after authorities in India denied permission for it to land due to a reported bomb threat.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, operating as flight LH752, had departed from Germany at 14:14 local time and was scheduled to arrive at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday.
However, flight tracking data indicated an abrupt diversion a few hours into the journey. A passenger onboard shared that they were provided overnight accommodation as the flight was rescheduled for Monday morning.
“We just landed back in Frankfurt about 15 minutes ago, and all we were told is that Hyderabad hasn’t given permission to land the flight there,” said a female passenger travelling from the United States to visit her mother in Hyderabad.
Authorities are investigating the incident, ensuring stringent security measures are in place before resuming operations. More details on the bomb threat and its impact on Lufthansa’s operations are expected to emerge as the situation unfolds.
