In a shocking incident that unfolded in broad daylight near Sahadevkhunta police station, the owner of Hotel Mayuri, Subrata Kumar Barik, was brutally attacked and robbed at gunpoint by a group of armed assailants.

The incident occurred merely 400 meters from the police station, raising serious concerns about public safety in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, Barik was exiting his hotel on OT Road carrying food when a vehicle approached from the opposite direction, leading to a heated exchange. Within moments, five to six men on motorcycles joined in and launched a violent assault using sharp weapons. During the scuffle, one of the attackers brandished a firearm and looted ₹30,000 from the hotel owner.

The attackers swiftly fled the scene, leaving Barik grievously injured with multiple wounds on his head and body. Alert hotel staff and nearby residents rushed to his aid and transported him to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for urgent treatment.

Sahadevkhunta Police have launched a probe into the incident and started conducting vehicle checks at various junctions to track down the culprits. Initial reports indicate that the attackers had planned the assault in advance.

This incident has sparked fear among local business owners and residents, who are now questioning the adequacy of law enforcement in a location so close to the police station.
