Bhubaneswar witnessed a shocking incident late Monday night when a hotel helper allegedly attacked a cook with a sharp knife, slashing his throat.
The attack occurred near Patia Station Road under Chandrasekharpur police limits.
The victim, identified as Ashish Mohanty, was rescued and rushed to Capital Hospital by police. Later, he was shifted to a private medical facility for advanced treatment. His condition remains critical.
Police identified the accused as K. Laba Rao, a hotel helper. Officers detained him soon after the incident and began interrogation. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
A scientific team reached the spot to conduct a forensic examination and collect evidence. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to reconstruct the sequence of events and understand the circumstances leading to the assault.
