The fifth batch of holy timber required for the construction of the iconic Rath Yatra chariots has successfully reached Puri.
Consisting of 28 pieces of wood—16 dhaura and 12 asana logs—this shipment arrived from the Kantamala range of the Boudh Division on Monday night.
This addition brings the total number of timber pieces delivered to 169, while 51 pieces from the previous year remain available. However, the construction of the three majestic chariots requires 814 more pieces, and 488 are expected to arrive in subsequent phases.
Preparations will pick up pace with the arrival of Akshaya Tritiya, marking the auspicious beginning of the chariot construction work. This year’s Rath Yatra promises to be as grand and spiritually uplifting as ever, capturing the devotion and enthusiasm of millions of pilgrims and devotees.
