A day after the Orissa High Court permitted Hanuman Jayanti processions in Sambalpur, the district administration has ramped up security measures to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo announced on Thursday that two companies of the Border Security Force (BSF) and one company of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) will be deployed in the district during Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti. Additionally, 12 platoons of police personnel will be stationed across key areas to prevent any untoward incidents.
Authorities have begun installing high-resolution AI-powered CCTV cameras at strategic locations to monitor the situation closely. Furthermore, dark areas are being illuminated to improve visibility and enhance security.
“I urge everyone to celebrate responsibly and refrain from spreading negativity. There will be zero tolerance for any lawbreakers,” said SP Bhamoo.
In 2023, Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in Sambalpur were marred by large-scale violence, property damage, and subsequent curfew enforcement. The administration is determined to prevent a recurrence by implementing stringent security measures.
The Orissa High Court has directed the state government to take all necessary precautions, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order during the festivities.
