The Indian Premier League (IPL) governing body has issued fines to Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya and Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra following Match 56 between the two teams at Wankhede Stadium.
Pandya was fined ₹24 lakhs after the Mumbai Indians maintained a slow over-rate during the match against the Gujarat Titans. This marks their second offence of the season under IPL’s Code of Conduct, which regulates minimum over-rates. In addition, other members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player and concussion substitute, were fined either ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever is lower.
Gujarat Titans’ head coach, Ashish Nehra, was also penalised for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Nehra admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20, which pertains to behaviour contrary to the spirit of the game. As a result, he was fined 25% of his match fees and received one demerit point.
The IPL clarified that for Level 1 breaches, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding, eliminating further review processes.
These disciplinary actions underscore the IPL’s commitment to maintaining fair play and ensuring compliance with league regulations.
