Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra paid a surprise visit to IG Park today to review public amenities and overall maintenance.
IG Park, located in the heart of Bhubaneswar and visited daily by thousands, requires special attention in terms of cleanliness and upkeep. During the inspection, Dr Mahapatra interacted with visitors and sought feedback on the facilities available to the public.
The Minister expressed strong displeasure over the inadequate maintenance of the park, particularly the poor condition of urinals and toilet facilities. He directed officials to take immediate corrective measures, ensuring proper hygiene, regular upkeep, and improved service standards. He also warned that strict action would follow if negligence continued.
Deputy Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Shri N. Ganesh Babu, accompanied the Minister during the inspection. Park officials and maintenance staff were present and were instructed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms. Dr Mahapatra emphasised that IG Park must remain clean, safe, and visitor-friendly at all times.
The inspection underscored the government’s commitment to improving civic amenities and maintaining public spaces in Bhubaneswar.
