Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday tested positive for COVID-19 after he had fainted during a rally in Vadodara on Sunday.
According to reports, the Chief Minister fainted on stage while addressing a rally in Nizampura area of Vadodara for the upcoming civic polls in the state. He was administered the first-aide treatment on the stage and was then flown to Ahemadabad for a check-up.
State Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said though Rupani is fine, he would be kept under observation for 24 hours.
Gujarat is among the worst-affected states due to the Covid-19 pandemic in India. Even as the state has been able to bring the daily Covid-19 count under 250, the total tally stands at 2.65 lakh with over 4400 deaths due to the deadly virus.
