Balasore: More than 10 youths were injured in a clash between two groups near Sandahapada under Sahadevakhunta police station limits in Balasore district on Thursday.
Reportedly, the injured youths are being treated at Balasore DHH and three of them are stated to be in serious condition.
At around 2 pm today, a courier boy delivered a mobile phone to one Sk Atawar of Kantabania village, who had ordered it online from an e-commerce website. After delivering the consignment, the courier boy went to nearby Sanadahapada village to deliver another parcel.
In the meanwhile, Atawar discovered that there was no mobile phone in the parcel and instead found a pair of headphones. Fumed over this, he along with his friends followed the courier boy to Sanadahapada and confronted him over the wrong parcel.
Soon the conversation turned into a violent argument and the group of youth started thrashing the courier agent.
The situation turned violent when some youths of Sanadahapada village tried to resolve the matter amicably and they were beaten up too.
Soon the youths of Kantabania village called more men from their village and the scene turned into a battle zone. Some were also seen attacking others with sharp weapons. The violent clash left more than ten youths injured on the spot.
On intimation, more than 20 personnel from Sahadevakhunta police station reached the scene and after seeing the police the violent mob dispersed within a few seconds. As the tension prevails, police forces have been deployed in the villages to avoid any further untoward incident.
Police have detained three people for questioning into the incident till the last reports came in.
