A violent clash broke out between residents of Kantabania and Kashimpur under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore district on Wednesday.
Both groups attacked each other with stones and sharp weapons, leaving several people injured.
The confrontation turned intense as villagers hurled stones and used sticks and iron rods. The fight continued for nearly three hours around Phuladi Chhak, disrupting traffic and spreading panic in the area.
Sources said the dispute began over a minor issue in the village on Monday. Although locals settled the matter temporarily, tensions reignited on Tuesday, leading to a full-scale group fight.
Police from Sahadevkhunta station rushed to the spot and tried to control the situation. Officers deployed additional force to prevent further escalation. Despite intervention, tension persisted between the two villages.
Authorities confirmed that several people sustained injuries in the attack. Police maintained a heavy presence in the area to restore order and ensure safety.
