The Odisha Crime Branch has made significant strides in the investigation into the Gopalpur gang rape case. According to Crime Branch DG Vinaytosh Mishra, “There is compelling digital evidence against the accused.”
The incident reportedly lasted for over an hour and a half, during which the perpetrators committed the crime. Key digital materials include CCTV footage and a mobile-recorded video of the assault, both of which are now in the possession of investigators.
A mobile phone used by one of the accused to record the incident has been seized. These materials are expected to serve as crucial evidence during legal proceedings. Mishra emphasised that the evidence leaves “no room for the accused to escape accountability.”
He added that the Crime Branch is expediting the investigation, and the case has now been officially transferred to the agency. The chargesheet is expected to be filed soon, and officials are pressing for the harshest punishment possible.
The case has drawn public attention and sparked demands for swift justice as authorities take firm action in pursuit of legal accountability.
