Team India is grappling with a mounting injury list ahead of the fourth Test against England, with pacer Akash Deep officially ruled out due to a groin injury.
Captain Shubman Gill confirmed the development and hinted at a potential Test debut for young fast bowler Anshul Kamboj.
Kamboj, who impressed in India’s A games against the England Lions, was recently recalled to the squad and may now compete with Prasidh Krishna for a spot in the playing XI. His inclusion could inject fresh energy into India’s bowling attack, which is already missing Nitish Reddy and Arshdeep Singh due to injuries.
Amid this setback, India also received a major boost—wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has recovered and will resume duties behind the stumps in Manchester, bolstering the team’s experience and balance.
The absence of key players means India will be forced to make at least two changes. As the series hangs in the balance, all eyes will be on Gill’s revamped squad and whether young Kamboj can rise to the challenge on debut.
