Jharsuguda Police seized 250 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 25 lakh and arrested one accused during a dramatic chase near Kherual Chhak on Biju Expressway.
Police patrol teams spotted a Maruti Ertiga carrying ganja from Boudh district toward Raigarh in Chhattisgarh. Officers followed the suspicious vehicle, which crashed into a divider around 4 AM. Two accused attempted to flee. Police captured one while the other escaped.
Investigators recovered nearly two and a half quintals of ganja from the wrecked car. The arrested accused faces charges under the NDPS Act. Police launched a manhunt for the absconding trafficker and began probing the wider interstate smuggling network.
Authorities confirmed the seized ganja holds a market value of approximately Rs 25 lakh. The operation highlights Jharsuguda Police’s intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking along the Biju Expressway.
