In a significant development for air travel from Odisha, direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi are set to commence from June 2025.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, highlighting the state’s growing international connectivity.
The flights will be operated by IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost airline, and will run three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This move comes under the B-MAAN (Building & Management of Aviation Assets and Network) scheme, which aims to enhance both domestic and international air links for Odisha.
The Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar has yet to finalise the flight schedule, pending approval for slot allocation. However, once confirmed, this new route will mark Bhubaneswar’s fifth international flight service, significantly strengthening the state’s presence in global aviation.
With Odisha’s continued emphasis on improving infrastructure and accessibility, this new flight route is expected to boost tourism, trade, and business relations between India and the UAE.
