The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for extreme weather conditions across India, predicting severe heatwaves in 10 states and thunderstorms in 19 states until April 10, 2025.

Citizens are urged to prepare for varying weather scenarios, ranging from scorching heat to stormy skies.

Heatwave Warnings: States including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa are expected to face intense heatwaves accompanied by hot winds. Temperatures are likely to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius during this period.

Thunderstorm Alerts: Meanwhile, Odisha, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, and northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are under warnings for heavy rainfall, lightning, and hailstorms. Gusty winds ranging from 40-50 kilometers per hour may also prevail.

The IMD suggests citizens stay cautious, especially in areas likely to witness heavy storms. Additionally, regions in south peninsular India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and parts of central India may experience moderate rainfall. Delhi-NCR is expected to endure extreme heat conditions throughout this period.

As these contrasting weather patterns sweep across the nation, the IMD advises timely precautions to ensure safety.
