Prasant Kumar Mandhata, Former Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Nayagarh Forest Division, has been convicted in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The Hon’ble Addl. Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, sentenced Mandhata to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000.
Mandhata was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority to stop his pension, a standard measure for convicted public servants.
This conviction reinforces the Odisha government’s commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring accountability among public officials. The case highlights the importance of vigilance in maintaining transparency in governance.
