The Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar convicted Ajaya Kumar Mohanty, former Junior Diarist at the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, for bribery.
To begin, the Special Judge, Vigilance, sentenced Mohanty to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine after finding him guilty under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Next, Odisha Vigilance explained that they had charge-sheeted Mohanty for demanding and accepting a bribe from an individual. He allegedly sought money in exchange for facilitating the publication of a withheld examination result of a person’s relative.
Furthermore, Vigilance officials confirmed that they will now move the competent authority to stop Mohanty’s pension, in line with rules governing retired government employees convicted of corruption.
