Former Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on November 3.
He arrived at the BJP’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar, where Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, state president Manmohan Samal, and Odisha in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar greeted him. Several senior leaders attended the induction ceremony, underscoring the importance of his entry.
Patnaik, once a prominent figure in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), held key responsibilities during his tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP. By switching sides, he has delivered a strategic boost to the BJP ahead of the upcoming elections. His move is expected to strengthen the party’s appeal among urban and educated voters.
As political equations in Odisha continue to evolve, Patnaik’s administrative experience and reputation as a technocrat-turned-politician add momentum to the BJP’s campaign. His presence brings credibility and depth to the party’s leadership.
During the event, BJP leaders expressed optimism about Patnaik’s role in energizing the organization. They believe his influence will shape voter sentiment and reinforce the party’s position in critical constituencies.
Meanwhile, the BJD faces a setback, having relied on Patnaik for policy advocacy and parliamentary representation. His departure challenges the party’s internal dynamics and signals a shift in political loyalties.
