The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted comprehensive searches at 12 locations across five districts in Odisha, uncovering crucial evidence in the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment Fraud 2023.
The operation was initiated following allegations of fake matriculation certificates being used to secure positions during the GDS recruitment process.
Raids were carried out in Bhubaneswar, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sambalpur, and Kendujhar, targeting individuals allegedly involved in creating and distributing forged certificates from the Uttar Pradesh Board and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The operation resulted in the recovery of multiple incriminating documents, further exposing the scale of the fraud.
On December 30, 2024, the CBI filed a chargesheet against 58 individuals, including 55 candidates and three middlemen, in the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court, Bhubaneswar. However, investigations remain ongoing as the authorities aim to identify other individuals involved and dismantle the network responsible for the forgery of certificates.
This case underscores the pressing need to safeguard the integrity of recruitment processes in India, as authorities work towards ensuring justice for those impacted by this fraudulent operation.
