Boudh: The forest division officials seized 27 pieces of smuggled palm timber in Boudh district and detained nine peddlers belonging to West Bengal.
The nine persons have been identified as Ajit Khanna, Rahman Dayal, Madhurali Sheikh, Azfar Khan, Bakwari Malik, Majsammuddin Malik and three others.
As per the directions of Debapriyakamp, the forest divisional officer, under the leadership of Forester Bulli Behera of Kantamal Range, Barpadar, a team of cops intercepted a truck and seized the illegal timbers.
After investigation, it was revealed that the timbers were being transferred to West Bengal from Beherapada area. Also, the officials seized the truck in which the timbers were being carried.
