In a major step towards infrastructure modernization, the Bhubaneswar Railway Station is set to undergo a transformative overhaul under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Yojana.
Designed to elevate the travel experience and ease traffic woes, the redevelopment will reshape how commuters interact with one of Odisha’s busiest rail hubs.
At the heart of this makeover is the introduction of an elevated flyover system, which will streamline station access. Commuters will enter the station at the upper level and exit from the lower level, reducing crowding and improving overall movement efficiency.
The new elevated link will connect Master Canteen Chhak to the station, making daily commutes smoother and more convenient.
A cutting-edge air-concourse will link all six platforms, eliminating the need for traditional foot overbridges. This upgrade promises faster, more accessible platform transitions for passengers, especially the elderly and differently abled.
The redevelopment goes beyond structural enhancements. New amenities such as lifts, escalators, waiting lounges, information kiosks, security checks, and a dedicated food plaza with retail outlets are in the pipeline, aimed at elevating the overall passenger experience.
To ensure the seamless execution of the project, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is partnering closely with Indian Railways. Plans include expanding land area and developing dedicated parking zones to support the station’s growing commuter base.
With a completion target set for August next year, engineers and authorities are optimistic about delivering a modern, world-class railway station that meets the evolving needs of Odisha’s capital city.
