A disturbing case emerged in Deogarh district when a five-year-old girl was raped on Sunday night at a religious event.
Police identified the accused as Udit Patra from Baliroi village under Barkote police station. Witnesses reported that he attacked the child while intoxicated. The girl cried out, and villagers rushed to the scene. They caught the accused and beat him severely, leaving injuries on his head and body.
Authorities rescued Udit and admitted him to Deogarh hospital for treatment. Doctors confirmed that the child’s health condition remains stable. Police placed the accused under custody at the hospital and began an investigation.
Officers visited the crime scene and called in a scientific team to assist with evidence collection. Police informed the court about the incident and confirmed that Udit will face trial after medical treatment. District Superintendent of Police Anil Mishra stated that the accused will be produced before the court once doctors discharge him.
The case sparked outrage in the community. Residents expressed anger and demanded strict punishment for the accused. Authorities assured that the investigation will proceed swiftly and justice will be delivered.
