A five-day induction training program aimed at strengthening the professional competencies of newly recruited Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in Economics and Political Science began today at IMAGE, Siripur, Bhubaneswar.
This training is being conducted for PGTs working in Non-Government Aided Higher Secondary Schools under the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha.
A total of 90 PGT teachers are participating in the program. Key sessions during the training will cover the Odisha Career Portal, the DHSE website, classroom management, professional development for teachers, pedagogical techniques, and group activities focusing on various important themes. The schedule also includes detailed guidance on procedures related to SAMS, the Sikshya Jyoti Portal, the Career Guidance website, vocational education, scholarship processes, as well as sessions on personal nutrition and health essential for fostering a healthy classroom environment.
The inaugural session was attended by Smt. Niyati Pattnaik, Director of DHSE, coordinated by Smt. Snigdha Mishra, Joint Director of DHSE. Sri Jitendra Nayak, Deputy Director of DHSE, and Dr. Umakanta Sethy, OIC of SAMS, were also present. Smt. Ch. Vijaylaxmi, Deputy Director of DHSE, delivered the vote of thanks.
During her speech at the inauguration, the Director of DHSE emphasised the importance of value-based education to ensure holistic development and character building among students. Joint Director Smt. Snigdha Mishra provided an overview of the five-day program and highlighted its objectives.
On this occasion, a training report booklet from a previously conducted five-day program was also released. This initiative underscores the State Government’s continued commitment to strengthening educator capacity and aligning Odisha’s school education system with ongoing educational reforms.
