Police in Nuagaon, Sundargarh district, arrested five individuals accused of slaughtering a cow and selling its meat. The accused were produced in court today.
According to reports, the incident took place in Ban Koba village under Karadega Gram Panchayat. Locals alleged that the accused killed a white calf on open land in Girija Tola and began preparing to sell the meat in small portions. Youths from the area spotted the activity and rushed to the spot. The accused fled, leaving the meat behind, but villagers managed to catch one suspect, Amrit Surin, and informed the Hatibari police.
Police reached the location with a team, seized evidence, and registered a case based on villagers’ complaints. The case was filed under Section 325/3(5) BNS and Section 7(1). Following the investigation, police arrested Amrit Surin, Bhimasen Kandilana, Prafulla Surin, Joseph Kandulana, and Eganesh Surin. All five were produced in court today.
Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the alleged slaughter and sale network.
