A newlywed farmer lost his life in a tragic road accident in Balangir district. Rudra Manahira, 38, from Kharabahali village under Muribahal block, died after an unidentified vehicle hit him near Bongomunda Golai Square.

Rudra had set out early morning on his motorcycle to sell freshly harvested potatoes in Khariar town. Suddenly, an unknown vehicle rammed into him head-on and fled the scene. Severely injured, Rudra lay unattended until locals discovered him bleeding and informed Bongomunda police.

Police rushed him to Kantabanji Medical Centre by ambulance. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival due to deep injuries on his head and face.

The incident devastated his family, especially his wife, who married him only months ago. Rudra was not only a hardworking farmer but also an active member of the Yadav community, holding various positions and earning respect across the district.

Police seized the body, conducted a postmortem, and handed it over to his family. Relatives filed a written complaint against the unknown vehicle.

Kantabanji MLA and District Planning Board Chairman Laxman Bag visited Rudra’s family, offering condolences. He directed police to identify and arrest the driver responsible for the accident immediately.

The accident has cast a shadow of grief over the region, leaving the community mourning the loss of a beloved farmer and leader.
