The family of Arnab Mukherjee, a deceased student of a private university in Bhubaneswar, arrived in the city on Tuesday night and identified his body.

According to reports, officials from Mancheswar Police Station facilitated the identification process at Capital Hospital.

Last Conversation with Family

Arnab’s father, Jagdish Mukherjee, recalled his last conversation with his son. “Arnab spoke to his mother on Monday night, requesting ₹200, which she transferred via UPI. After that, he didn’t respond to any calls. Later, the police contacted us,” he said.

The circumstances leading to Arnab’s death remain unclear.

Police Investigation Ongoing

Authorities from the university have stated that the incident occurred off-campus and are awaiting police findings.

Mancheswar Police Station IIC Mrutunjay Swain stated, “We called the deceased’s parents for identification, which has been completed. A post-mortem will be conducted, and an investigation is underway. The exact cause of death will be determined after the probe concludes.”
