Gramadiha village in Odisha witnessed a horrifying domestic violence incident late Saturday night that ended in a fatality.
Dibakar, under the influence of alcohol, attacked his wife Lakshmipriya Bastia at her father Pramod Jena’s residence. Armed with a sharp weapon, Dibakar inflicted severe injuries on Lakshmipriya before Jena and his son intervened to protect her. In the scuffle, Dibakar sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to them on the spot.
Both Lakshmipriya and Pramod Jena were critically injured and are now being treated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Police reports suggest that ongoing matrimonial disputes between Dibakar and Lakshmipriya played a key role in the altercation.
The Infovalley Police are investigating the tragic incident. Eyewitness accounts suggest that Dibakar was heavily intoxicated and that his wife had been staying at her parental home due to recurring domestic abuse.
As authorities collect statements from witnesses and family members, the tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the importance of addressing domestic conflicts before they escalate into violence.
