Odisha Governor and Chancellor of Universities, Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, has extended the tenure of Fakir Mohan University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Santosh Kumar Tripathy, by six months.
The official notification from Raj Bhavan confirms that Professor Tripathy will continue in his role from July 21, 2025.
Serving as VC since 2021, Professor Tripathy was originally appointed by then-Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal. His extended stewardship marks over four years of leadership at the university.
Professor Tripathy’s academic journey includes a longstanding association with Utkal University, where he served as Head of Department, Senate member, and Academic Council member. He was instrumental in implementing the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS), a reform that reshaped higher education in Odisha.
Recognised both nationally and internationally for his scholarly contributions, Professor Tripathy has presented research across countries including the United States, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan.
The six-month extension is seen as a nod to stability and experience within the university administration, allowing Professor Tripathy to continue fostering educational and research excellence
