Criminals posing as vigilance officers entered the house of Simadri Deo in Gadlapur under Brahmanigaon police limits and looted cash and gold worth nearly Rs 20 lakh.
The gang arrived on three motorcycles carrying files and diaries to appear official. They told Simadri and his daughter-in-law that multiple complaints had been filed against them and claimed they needed to conduct a house search. Once inside, they tied both victims and ransacked the almirah. The criminals took Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and gold ornaments valued at around Rs 18 lakh before fleeing.
At the time of the incident, Simadri’s son was away at work. When he returned, Simadri narrated the entire ordeal. Together, they immediately lodged a complaint at Brahmanigaon police station.
Police officers, led by Inspector Bijay Haiburu, reached the crime scene and began an investigation. The officer confirmed that the criminals used the false identity of vigilance officials to gain entry and commit the loot. Authorities are now tracking leads to identify the culprits and recover the stolen property.
