Fake Currency Racket Busted in Bolangir; Rs 49,000 Seized, Two Held

The Special Task Force (STF), in collaboration with Bolangir District Police, uncovered an illegal Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) racket near Sikir village, Titlagarh, Odisha.


Acting on reliable intelligence, law enforcement apprehended two suspects, Mohammad Sabir (45) and Netra Raut (44), both residents of Bolangir district.

During the search, authorities recovered ₹49,000 worth of counterfeit currency and various incriminating materials. The case has been registered at Titlagarh Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. An investigation is ongoing to identify the network behind this illegal activity.

This discovery highlights the persistent challenges posed by counterfeit currency networks and underscores the dedicated efforts of Odisha Police in curbing illegal activities that threaten economic stability.
