The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has unveiled a groundbreaking process for generating and activating Universal Account Numbers (UAN) using Aadhaar Face Authentication Technology.
This innovative method, accessible through the UMANG Mobile App, simplifies the UAN activation process for millions of employees across India, providing a contactless, secure, and hassle-free service.
The new system ensures 100% validation of Aadhaar details via face authentication, enhancing security and accuracy compared to traditional OTP or demographic methods. Employees can independently generate their UANs and immediately gain access to critical EPFO services such as passbook viewing, KYC updates, and claim submissions, eliminating previous reliance on employers.
Employers are encouraged to promote this efficient method among new recruits, while EPFO extends its services to pensioners through collaborations with “My Bharat” volunteers, enabling the issuance of digital life certificates. This initiative marks a significant leap toward a fully digital and inclusive EPFO ecosystem.
