An 81-year-old man was brutally murdered in Odisha’s Rayagada district last night after being accused of practising sorcery.
The crime took place in Shundhipadar village under Ambadala police limits. The deceased, identified as Chichi Ram Bag, was attacked by assailants who reportedly crushed his head, killing him instantly.
Family members rushed to the Ambadala police station to lodge a complaint. At the time of reporting, police had not yet reached the crime scene, and the exact motive behind the killing was still under investigation.
Villagers have remained silent about the incident, but sources indicated that disputes over sorcery accusations had previously created tension in the area. Such conflicts may have contributed to the murder.
