Ekamra Walks, the flagship cultural initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), will unveil two new experiential trails from November 23, 2025, at Kala Bhoomi, the Odisha Crafts Museum.
The additions—the Odia Literary Trail and Culture, Crafts & Conversations: Odia Film Panorama—promise to enrich the city’s cultural calendar with immersive experiences spanning language, literature, and cinema.
Odia Literary Trail
The Odia Literary Trail offers visitors a vibrant journey into the evolution of the Odia language. Set against the culturally rich backdrop of Kala Bhoomi, the trail blends literature, performing arts, folk traditions, and storytelling to showcase Odia’s growth from its earliest scripts to its classical form.
Highlights include:
- Folk dance performances and Odissi presentations inspired by classical literature
- Storytelling sessions combining traditional and contemporary styles
- Exploration of oral traditions, local dialects, and cultural influences on Odia literature
- Interactive opportunities with eminent literary personalities
Designed for students, families, and culture enthusiasts, the trail presents language learning as a dynamic performing arts experience.
Culture, Crafts & Conversations: Odia Film Panorama
The second trail celebrates Odia cinema in the atmospheric open-air setting of Kala Bhoomi. Every Sunday, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the Open Air Theatre will host screenings of classic and landmark Odia films.
The program features:
- Expert-led introductions on film history and notable directors
- Conversations with film enthusiasts and cultural practitioners
- Odia-style refreshments in a lively community setting, evoking the nostalgic charm of rural movie nights
This weekly event promises an enriching cultural evening for families and film lovers, blending cinema, crafts, and heritage.
