The Government of Odisha is taking significant strides to enhance student nutrition under the PM POSHAN scheme.
Starting from 1st April 2025, all students from Classes I to X in government and government-aided schools will receive an extra egg on Fridays and three nutrient-rich laddoos every week.
The nutritious laddoos, made of millet, sesame, groundnut, and jaggery, will be distributed during the morning assembly on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. These ingredients are packed with fiber, iron, and healthy fats to provide sustainable energy and improve overall health. Each laddoo costs Rs 3.50, with strict guidelines for preparation and hygiene maintained by Cooks-cum-Helpers (CCHs).
Additionally, the extra egg provision on Fridays will complement the current egg distributions on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This initiative is designed to further combat malnutrition and encourage better dietary practices among young learners.
District Education Officers (DEOs) are instructed to ensure the seamless implementation of this program and share visuals of the distribution process on social media for widespread awareness and promotion.
With these thoughtful measures, Odisha is setting a benchmark in creating healthier and more energetic generations through comprehensive school nutrition programs.
