To accommodate the surge in passenger traffic and improve travel comfort during the peak season, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the temporary augmentation of coaches in several popular express trains.
The Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (Train No. 22823) will have one additional AC 2-Tier coach attached on 23rd January 2026. In the return direction, the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Tejas Rajdhani Express (Train No. 22824) will also receive one extra AC 2-Tier coach on 24th January 2026.
For passengers travelling on the Hirakhand Express, ECoR is adding one Sleeper Class coach to the Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur service (Train No. 18447) from 24th January to 31st January 2026. The Jagdalpur–Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (Train No. 18448) will get the additional Sleeper Class coach from 25th January to 1st February 2026.
The Puri–Howrah Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12278) and its return service, the Howrah–Puri Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12277), will each have one extra AC Chair Car coach attached from 22nd January to 27th January 2026.
East Coast Railway reiterated its commitment to passenger convenience, stating that coaches will continue to be augmented wherever necessary to ensure smooth and comfortable journeys during high-demand periods.
