As Puri prepares for the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Odisha Police has unveiled a multi-layered, tech-driven security blueprint to manage the massive influx of devotees.

For the first time, NSG (National Security Guard) snipers have been deployed following a high-level threat assessment. Alongside, an Integrated Command and Control Room and over 275 AI-enabled CCTV cameras will ensure real-time surveillance from Uttara Chhak to Konark.

Key Security Highlights:

  • 10,000 personnel deployed, including Odisha Police, CAPF, BSF, RAF, CRPF, and Home Guards.

  • Eight-zone strategy covering temple security, crowd management, traffic, coastal protection, and aerial surveillance.

  • Anti-drone units, dog squads, and anti-sabotage teams deployed to pre-empt threats.

  • Coastal forces including Marine Police, Coast Guard, and Navy reinforce sea-front security.

  • Police drones and chatbot services introduced to assist pilgrims with parking, routes, and alerts.

DGP YB Khurania emphasized integrated coordination and modern technology as the core of this year’s strategy to ensure a safe, peaceful, and divine Rath Yatra.

“This sacred event draws lakhs of devotees annually, and our foremost duty is to protect both tradition and the people,” he said.
