Singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming October 30 concert in New Delhi is officially back on track after Delhi Police reconsidered its earlier stance and granted clearance following discussions with event organisers BookMyShow Live.
Responding to the intense public debate and social media chatter, the singer released a humorous video reel reacting to the developments.
Diljit’s Lighthearted Reaction and Organiser Clarification
“What a good day today! What a good vibes coming!” Diljit began in his signature witty tone, asking fans if all the tweets, reels, and debates surrounding his show were finally over so they could meet on October 30. He humorously urged people to read verified news reports rather than jumping to conclusions.
Earlier, BookMyShow Live issued a statement clarifying that permissions had only been “temporarily withheld” rather than cancelled, addressing inaccurate reports circulating online.
Security Concerns and Hoax Threat Context
On Thursday, Delhi Police had initially withheld permission citing festive-season security commitments, law and order priorities, and specific threat inputs. Officials revealed that a key contributor to the security review was a hoax bomb threat email received by multiple Delhi schools on October 15. The email, which contained pro-Khalistani slogans, specifically warned students against attending Dosanjh’s October 30 concert. Following high-level reviews and meetings with organisers on Friday, the police reconsidered and approved the event.
Political Reactions
The temporary withholding of permission sparked political friction, drawing sharp criticism from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj. Bharadwaj accused the BJP-led government and Delhi Police of bias against “brave Punjabis,” citing Dosanjh’s past public support for the farmers’ movement and student protests.
