Dense Fog Brings Traffic to Standstill in Gajapati’s Mohana Area; Visibility Drops Below 50 Metres

A dense fog cover severely disrupted traffic across multiple routes in the Mohana area of Gajapati district, Odisha, early Sunday morning. The weather conditions brought vehicular movement to an almost complete halt as visibility dropped sharply, affecting both local commuters and long-distance travellers.

According to reports, visibility in several stretches fell to below 50 metres, prompting motorists to slow down significantly or stop altogether for safety. Ambulances, tourist buses and private vehicles were seen waiting along the roadside until conditions improved.

Low Visibility Causes Widespread Disruptions

The thick fog persisted across the region throughout the morning, reducing visibility enough to create hazardous driving conditions. Many vehicles remained stranded as drivers chose to wait for clearer roads to avoid accidents.

Despite a slight rise in temperature linked to shifting weather patterns, winter conditions continued, with cold winds and fog affecting daily movement.

Winter Chill Continues Despite Temperature Increase

Though the area experienced a marginal increase in temperature, the dense fog made travel difficult. Morning traffic was slow across major routes, causing delays for commuters and affecting regular transport services.

Advisory for Travellers

Authorities urged travellers to remain cautious while moving through fog-affected zones. Drivers were advised to use fog lights, maintain low speeds, and avoid overtaking until visibility improved. Conditions are expected to gradually get better as daytime temperatures rise.

Further weather updates will depend on how the current system evolves over the next 24 hours.
