Delhi Police have arrested a key suspect linked to the recent firing incidents at actor-comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant, Kap’s Café, located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. According to news agency PTI, the accused has been identified as Bandhu Man Singh, a close associate of Canada-based gangster Goldy Dhillon.
Investigators stated that Singh allegedly coordinated with Dhillon’s network and played an active role in the broader conspiracy to intimidate the café’s owners. During the arrest, police recovered a Chinese-made pistol and cartridges from his possession. Authorities added that his connections with overseas operatives and his exact role in the conspiracy are still under investigation.
Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to identify additional conspirators and assess the full extent of the gang’s operations both within India and abroad.
Series of Attacks on Kap’s Café
Kapil Sharma opened Kap’s Café in July in Surrey, after which the establishment faced multiple targeted shootings. The first attack occurred shortly after its launch, followed by two additional firing incidents—one in August and another on October 16.
Speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, Sharma addressed the repeated attacks. He noted that the incidents drew significant attention, even reaching the Canadian federal government and prompting discussions in parliament.
Despite the challenges, Sharma said that community support for the café increased after each incident. “After every firing, we actually saw a bigger opening at the café. So everything is fine as long as God is with me,” he remarked.
