A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men posing as policemen at Astha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji area on Monday evening, police said.
According to police, the girl had gone to Kalkaji Mandir with a 17-year-old male friend to offer prayers around 7pm. After visiting the temple, the two went to Astha Kunj Park, located near Kalkaji Mandir and the ISKCON temple, at around 7:30pm.
Police said three men, aged between 25 and 30, approached the teenagers while claiming to be policemen.
Suspects Allegedly Threatened Teenagers
The men allegedly threatened the two teenagers with arrest before sexually assaulting the girl inside the park, police said.
According to investigators, one of the accused restrained the boy while the others allegedly assaulted the minor girl. The suspects then allegedly left the park after threatening the teenagers.
A PCR call regarding the incident was received at around 8:45pm, following which a police team reached the spot.
The girl was taken for a medical examination and her statement was recorded, police said.
One Accused Arrested, Two At Large
Police said one of the three accused was arrested on Tuesday morning, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining two suspects.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police teams have been deployed to trace the remaining accused. Investigators are also scanning CCTV footage from the area and gathering information about people who may have been present in or around the park at the time of the alleged incident.
Investigation Underway
Police said further legal action would be taken based on the minor’s statement.
Investigators are continuing efforts to identify and arrest the remaining suspects in the case.
The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against the accused are subject to the outcome of the legal process.
