To manage the anticipated surge in commuters on August 15, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will commence operations at 4:00 AM across all lines.
This early start is part of a coordinated effort to facilitate travel for attendees of India’s 79th Independence Day celebrations in the national capital.
Between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM, trains will run every 30 minutes, after which regular schedules will resume. The move aims to ease congestion and ensure timely arrival for both general commuters and special invitees.
In a notable gesture, the Ministry of Defence has arranged for special QR-coded tickets for individuals holding official invitation cards. These tickets will allow seamless travel to and from the venue, with costs reimbursed directly to DMRC by the ministry.
Key metro stations near the celebration venue—Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Delhi Gate—will serve as primary transit points for guests and citizens alike.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to public convenience and national pride, ensuring that the spirit of freedom is celebrated with dignity and ease.
