Alex de Minaur and Daniil Medvedev secured impressive victories in the opening round of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, setting the stage for an exciting tournament.

Alex de Minaur celebrated his 200th hard-court win by overcoming Roman Safiullin in a challenging match. Despite the windy conditions, De Minaur showed resilience and determination, eventually winning 6-1, 7-5. This victory marks his Tour-leading 12th win of the 2025 season. De Minaur will next face qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round.

Daniil Medvedev, the 2023 Doha champion, also advanced to the second round by defeating defending champion Karen Khachanov. In a grueling three-set match, Medvedev came from behind to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. This victory represents Medvedev’s first triumph over a Top 30 opponent in 2025. He will next face Zizou Bergs, with hopes of securing his 300th hard-court win.

Andrey Rublev, another former champion in Doha, secured his spot in the second round by defeating Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-4. Rublev is on track for a potential quarter-final meeting with De Minaur, adding further excitement to the tournament.

Tennis fans around the world eagerly await the upcoming rounds as these top players continue their quest for glory at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open.
