In a dramatic turn of events, a prominent businessman of Jeypore, A. Krishna Rao has been rescued from the clutches of kidnappers.
The incident, which occurred near Gataguda on Friday evening, left the family and community in shock. The businessman, who had not returned home after his daily professional routine, was reportedly abducted at gunpoint by a group of five criminals.
The kidnappers had taken Mr Rao to Kiramaguda village under Narigaon Panchayat in Bissamcuttack police limits. It was there that the businessman managed to escape early this morning while pretending to head for an outdoor lavatory. His quick thinking and assistance from locals enabled him to contact his family.
Koraput SP and a special investigation team have been actively pursuing the case. Police officials, including the Additional SP and local officers, have initiated thorough investigations.
Mr Rao’s courage during his escape has been widely lauded as law enforcement continues its hunt for the perpetrators.
The rescue brought immense relief to Mr. Rao’s family, who had filed a formal complaint with Jeypore Sadar Police Station upon discovering his scooter and spectacles abandoned near the scene.
Investigations are ongoing, with police vowing to bring the culprits to justice.
