Bhubaneswar: At least eight districts of Odisha will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall under the influence of Cyclone Yaas, which is likely to cross north Odisha-West Bengal between Paradip and Sagar Island by evening of 26th May as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm, informed the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 27.05.2021), the Meteorological Centre forecasted and issued Red Warning for the districts.
Similarly, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Khurda during the same period, the Meteorological Centre added and issued Yellow Warning for the districts.
Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Khurda will also witness heavy rainfall during the same period, the Met added.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Ganjam (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2021), it added.
