The scheduled “Jan Abhiyog Shunani” (Public Grievance Hearing) programme of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, set for Monday, October 26, has been postponed in view of the possible cyclonic situation developing over the Bay of Bengal.
The hearing was to be held at the old Government Primary School (near Capital Nursery) in Unit-2, Ashok Nagar, Bhubaneswar. The General Administration and Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department issued the announcement on Friday, citing the evolving weather system that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects could intensify into a cyclonic storm by October 26 and move toward the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast in the following days.
Citizens who had already registered online to meet the Chief Minister on October 26 do not need to re-register for the subsequent hearing. The department has clarified that their registration will remain valid. The date of the next public grievance hearing in Bhubaneswar will be communicated through newspapers and other media platforms once it is finalised.
The Jan Abhiyog Shunani is the Chief Minister’s flagship outreach initiative that allows citizens to present grievances directly. The programme has been conducted regularly in Bhubaneswar, with previous sessions resolving a high percentage of complaints.
The postponement is a precautionary measure as the state government monitors the weather system and prepares for possible heavy rainfall and strong winds along the coast.
