The Cuttack Regional Transport Office (RTO) has imposed a hefty fine of Rs 10.19 lakh on a private bus for multiple violations.
The bus, registered as OD 05 AV 5465, was found operating without mandatory documents, including a fitness certificate, pollution control certificate, valid permit, and insurance.
According to RTO officials, the breakdown of the fine includes Rs 5,000 for fitness lapse, Rs 10,000 for pollution certificate, Rs 10,000 for permit violation, Rs 2,000 for missing insurance, and Rs 3,07,664 in unpaid taxes. Additionally, a penalty of Rs 6,85,092 was levied, bringing the total to Rs 10,19,756.
The bus, reportedly operating under the name “Shivashankar,” was flagged during a routine inspection. Officials cited serious lapses in compliance and passenger safety risks as grounds for the action.
This move underscores the RTO’s commitment to ensuring road safety and regulatory adherence. Authorities have urged all transport operators to maintain valid documentation to avoid such penalties.
