Odisha Vigilance today apprehended two government officials—Revenue Inspector (RI) Manoj Kumar Behera and Amin Bichitrananda Satpathy, both from the Kandarpur Revenue Circle in Cuttack district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000.
The bribe was reportedly demanded from a local shop owner seeking a favourable report for the conversion of agricultural land to homestead land and issuance of a Record of Rights (RoR) in his name. Despite repeated requests over the past month, the officials allegedly insisted on the bribe to initiate the process.
Faced with no alternative, the complainant alerted the Vigilance Department. Acting swiftly, officials laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed near the Kandarpur revenue office while accepting the marked amount. The entire Rs 12,000 has been recovered and seized from their possession.
Subsequently, the Vigilance team conducted simultaneous searches at three premises linked to RI Behera and two locations connected to Amin Satpathy, focusing on disproportionate assets.
A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.17/2025) under Section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, has been registered.
