The Department of Forestry, Central University of Odisha organized a two day workshop titled, “Hydrogen assisted Casurina plantation and Apisilviculture for climate resilient highlands of Koraput”.
Dr Ramendra Parhi, HOD, Dep’t of Forestry welcomed the guests on dais of the inaugural ceremony which featured Prof Hrushikesh Senapaty, VC, V D University, Jeypore who emphasized on climate resilient technology and the link between experimental academics as one of the backbone of the National Education Policy.
Prof N C Panda, Chaired the session and asserted that the University is providing support to the Departments like Forestry by way of land and lab for advances in research. Dr R Devarajan, Head, ICAR-IISWC explained the significance of the workshop in connection with Koraput climate and soil.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Subhasmita Parida, Assistant Professor and the programme was compeered by Dr Aishwaryalaxmi A R, Assistant Professor. Dr Aman Kumar and Mr JyotiradityaDash, Assistant Professors of the department were also present for coordination.
The department also released a book on this occasion, “Oyster Mushroom Cultivation: A Sustainable Agro Forestry Opportunity for Koraput Highlands.”
The workshop sessions were conducted by eminent academics & industry professionals including Dr Nirakar Bhol, OUAT, Mr Bijay Kumar Sahu, J K Paper Ltd., Dr R N Mohapatra, OUAT and Mr Nitai Charan Dalai, Beekeeper, Cuttack. A total of 102 students participated and were given hands on training in casurinaplantation, bee keeping management, modern technologies like hydrogel assisted plantation etc.
